And so comes the day! We woke up really early around 3.30am to get the kids and ourselves ready. Mum was kind enough to send us to the airport with our 3 luggages and 2 strollers. We reached T3 at around 5.30am, just nice to meet up with the rest and do a checked in. Depart by SQ890 at 7.40am.
Flight was pretty smooth and we reached Hong Kong airport at around 11am. Pretty fast as compared to our previous experience with Jetstar. Nothing to rave abt SQ though. The food was pretty bleah, the only advantage is the entertainment system which kept the kids occupied. Took a cab per family and paid around HKD260-HKD280. Checked in to Kowloon Hotel which we paid around SGD170 per nite for early bookings. Kowloon Hotel is located strategically at the Tsim Tsa Tsui area. MTR station is right at our door step and halal food is pretty easy to find, if you don't mind the indian and middle eastern cuisine. On top of that, it is a shopping haven area! On the negative note, the room is really really small. With our luggages and 2 strollers, we hardly find space to walk in it. But for the kids, as long as there is bathtub, they are happy!
So on the first day, we walked around the hotel area, visited Avenue of Stars at night for the symphony of lights which started everyday at 8pm (no timing difference with Singapore). Weather is still pretty ok for us to bear since its only the start of the winter season. We ate dinner (serving starts from 6-9pm) at the Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre which serves Halal chinese cuisine. Took the mtr (equivalent to our mrt service) and dropped off at Wanchai station and walked for about 10mins to reached our destination. Finding halal food in Hong Kong is not that difficult but you have to travel for it. And usually, prices are not cheap too but well, you are pretty much left with no choice, isn't it? We paid abt HKD240 for our meal which is equivalent to SGD40.
Address: Islamic Centre Canteen. 5/F, Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre. 40 Oi Kwan Rd, Wanchai HK. Tel no: (852) 2834-8211.
Avenue of Stars is a walking distance from our hotel so right after the show, we walked back and rested for the day. So it is a pretty free and easy going first day.
